Savannah, GA – Savannah State University director of athletics Sterling Steward announced on Wednesday that the school has relieved head football coach Steve Davenport of his duties.
Davenport, a former University of Alabama-Birmingham assistant (2006-10), compiled a 2-20 record over two seasons with the struggling Tigers.
Savannah State, a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, had identical 1-10 records in each of Davenport's two years in charge.
The school also released the remainder of the coaching staff except cornerbacks coach Corey Barlow, who was tabbed as the interim head football coach.
